Welcome to my informative website about chiropractic, physical rehabilitation, and pain management. My name is George Boghoziann, and I am a Dr. of Chiropractic (DC) with a postdoctoral MSc in Clinical Management of Pain. I developed this website for patient education because I believe that educated patients are better prepared to make decisions about their health and well-being. Patient education and open communication with the primary care provider are key to achieving healthy, fully functional outcomes and patient satisfaction. I really appreciate your taking the time to visit my website.
Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a system of diagnosis and treatment based on the concept that the nervous system coordinates all of the body's functions. It employs manipulation (adjustment) of the body's structures, primarily the spinal column, to relieve pressure on nerve roots caused by vertebral body displacement (subluxation). As a patient-centered, noninvasive, hands-on, regulated health care profession, chiropractic focuses on the spine, muscles, joints, and nervous system. It is a form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for the treatment of spinal and musculoskeletal problems, primarily through manual manipulation and/or mobilization of the spinal column, as well as adjunctive therapies.
Physical Rehab
Physical rehabilitation is the process an injured or deconditioned person undergoes to restore their physical functioning. It is an umbrella term for the overarching process a person goes through. A person undergoing physical rehabilitation might work with various professionals who use different intervention techniques, such as medication or injections administered by a physiatrist, home exercise programs prescribed by a chiropractor or physical therapist, and retraining in activities of daily living with an occupational therapist. Physical rehabilitation will help patients with tasks in their daily lives, such as preparing meals, bathing, working, caring for children, and more.
Pain Management
Pain management is designed to treat chronic pain and allow a person to live a whole, enjoyable life. Pain management requires dedication, commitment, and knowledge to achieve the best results. It can be a great alternative to back pain surgery. It's essential to understand the differences between non-invasive, non-drug pain management (e.g., thermal therapy, electrotherapy), regular pain management (e.g., pain medications and antidepressants), and invasive pain management (e.g., injections). Pain management aims to evaluate, diagnose, and treat different types of pain. It often involves a multidisciplinary approach, including doctors from various specialties.
